Here is a Yamaha performance page that might get us in the ballpark. Even though it is brand/model specific, perhaps we can search for a similar hull weight to get a fair estimate of what to expect out of a certain motor/prop combination.

What is your estimation of the largest, average-equipped and appointed CC boat I can effectively power with a 200-250hp 4-stroke or E-tec on a bracket. I want to be able to cruise at about 30mph, or so, and get decent fuel economy.

I currently have a 250hp 2-stroke on a braket-equipped 23' Grady. I cruise at about 28mph and am lucky to get 1.6-1.7 mpg overall.

I read the "twin-build" thread where they equipped their 23' boats with a 175hp 4-stroke and an E-tec, cruising at about 30mph and getting about 4 mpg!

What do you think?!
