A break in boat building action leads to a fine day offshore! Here in the mid-Atlantic we have one heck of a tuna bite. We left the dock friday to see what we could find! This was the start of the Ocean city Tuna Tourney and we knew a large number of boats would be heading south to the Washington Canyon. To set the winner on the scale, we opted to fish a little noth and about 50 miles off the beach.
The trolling spread was not yet set out completely and we had our fish in the box. Then another one. Then we had a visit from Mr. Stickface! We released him! Then a double YFT. As both tuna made it to the boat, a free swimming white showed up all lit up but we could not get him to eat!
Spring Rockfish season opened here on the Chesapeake April 16. it blew a gale on opening day so along with my fellow dockrats we stayed ashore. we did go fishing Sunday and had a pretty good day in spite of all the debris in the water from the blow!
